I'm planning a wedding and I picked out a few caterers...I'm trying to not be rude, and I know I'll have to ask them specifically, but there are some items I want to be served that they can't offer (i.e. a special type of oyster) I'm wondering if it is normal for this to happen and if it is generally something they are flexible with or if they strictly serve their foods only for safety issues or profit?Wedding caterers flexible about specialty goods?
It will vary.
The ones I have dealt with are willing to work with me - I have food allergies as well as am a fussy eater. They have all been up front "that will cost more" or "that we can change without any charge".
This varies by caterer. Most are able to do special dishes but will charge you a lot to do them.Wedding caterers flexible about specialty goods?
Anything out of their routine probably will cost more money.
You won't know unless you ask them. Some caterers are happy to fix whatever you want that isn't on their menu as long as they have a recipe and/or you give them enough advance notice. Others though only stick to their preset menus.
