the tarps get rather big holes but are roughly 100 dollars for just one. can i patch them? i could use an old tarp and patch it to the newer tarp if only i could iron them onto it.I work for a caterer and we do lobster bakes. we use canvas tarps to cover hot fire bricks.?
I would be careful about the iron on as the heat from the bricks would melt the bond.

Why not buy fire resistant tarps from a welding supply store? Normally, tarps used for the project you are talking about, are thoroughly soaked with water to prevent burning.
