I am having a party of 25 people. We don't live in a big city. The caterer is charging me about $900 for food and $240 for her and one more person to serve for 4 hours. Although, the contract says that the tip isn't included, I don't want to give them 15 - 20% since I am paying them $240. How much would be appropriate? Don't give one! A tip is a gift that you give someone for going above and beyond the call of duty, it is not something that should be expected and definitely should not be asked for.
