What's cheaper - hiring a party rental company or a caterer?

Hi, I am planning a wedding reception in NYC. It's inside an office building with no kitchen or heating facilities.



I don't know which would be cheaper - hire a caterer to handle the food and the decorations, or order food from our favorite restaurant and hire a separate party rental company to take care of the dishware and tableware.
