I was just wondering approximately a guest to caterer ratio for and idea on price. Also like what quality was it? buffet or a nice sit down dinner? How much was the caterer for your wedding?
Mines was around $15,000 CDN. It was a buffet, and it was at a very high class hotel. The wedding was for about 200-250 people...Do not worry though, most people do not pay this much for catering.
We fed about 75 people for $1000 which included soft drinks and coffee.
My brother's best friend owns an italian restaurant, we had a private room and it was buffet. How much was the caterer for your wedding?
My catering tab as 12k, about $300 per person (we had 38 ppl) that included passed hot hors d'ouvres, raw bar (oysters, shrimp, crab claws), 5 hours of open top shelf liquor bar, table side wine service, champagne, cake cutting costs (cake paid separtely), the meal (we had a clam bake: lobster, clam chowder, little neck steamers, two choices of salad, ribs, chicken, sausage, corn, sparragus, creamed potatoes, fresh fruit, two choices of ice cream, brownies), service, linens, china, tax and tip. (the beach front venue included). It was buffet (clam bakes cannot be plated as lobsters have to be served steaming hot). We had two buffet atendants, two waiters lifting plates and serving wine and water, a bartender plus the wedding coordinator (included as well) ...so we had a ratio of 1:6. The food and the service was excelent and the location was awesome! everyone commented that it was the best wedding that they ever attended and the food was the very best.
New England
Good luck
PS/ My venue was straight up and told me the cost per person with tax and gratuity included, many venues tell you that the catering is only X and they end up charging you fo room rental fees, bar set up fees, cleaning fees, cake cutting fees, champagne serving fees, taxes, tips etc.
We are paying $26 a plate. It is BBQ food and it will be a buffet.
EDIT: I am getting married in VT so it may be less expensive than most.
We are having a nice plated dinner, 3 course meal, with guests choices being Filet Mignon and Lobster Ravioli, ours is on the higher side but we are paying $123 per person. Plus another $25 per person for unlimited bar. Also remember to include when thinking of your price that gratuity and tax is not added to the figure they gave you. I didn't realize that and it added over $2100 to my bill. This also included linens set up and clean up, cake cutting, and a wedding coordinator.
Edit- This price also includeds tray passed appetizers with absolute vodka sweet shrimp and seared ahi tuna.
This is at a Vineyard in Southern California.
we are having 175 people and its running us about 52.00 a person, not to bad! total of my wedding is running 16,000.00 not to bad for these days!
My catering hall was beautiful, provided the cake of my choice, cocktail hour, and a full reception with sit down dinner (5 courses, not including dessert). After taxes, I believe my total was 17,800 which is approximately $130 per person....Hope that helps. I couldn't afford a 60K wedding either. After it was all said and done, our grand total was $27000
Free,.....I did it myself. Just the cost of the stuff I needed.Made all my salads, ordered all my platters, my one daughter learned cake decorating in my bakery so she did the cake....set it up as a cold luncheon buffet (after a 1 pm ceremony) at my sister's.....her linens matched my colors....all in all perfect for a second marriage for two 50 somethings....2,000.00 for 20 people.
I have to hit a minimum food %26amp; beverage charge of $15,000. We're doing chef-manned food stations so that everyone can go up and choose their own meal and have it freshly prepared.
The budget for the wedding is $30,000 - we can afford it because we've been living together for 10 years and chose to wait until we could afford the wedding we wanted rather than rush into it unnecessarily.
The only really really expensive weddings I've been to ($40k and up) were hosted by the bride's parents. My parents are both blue collar and are being very generous with us. We are splitting the costs of our wedding.
Our caterer is through the hotel where we're getting married. It's $22-$26/person for a plated dinner. (We're offering three different meal options). The appetizer platters are about $150 per platter. 19.75% gratuity.
Hope that helps!
