How much can I make as a waiter in Los Angeles?

I am actor moving to LA in the Fall. I would like to be a waiter for the schedule but I have a budget to meet. What about caterers and valets or anything else in that genre? How much can I make as a waiter in Los Angeles?
Catering is your best bet if you're moving here in the fall. The business is at it's peak during the holiday season with December being the busiest. The top 3 caterers in town are Patina, Wolfgang Puck and The Kitchen for Exploring Foods with The Kichen being the most flexible on scheduling if auditioning is a concern. Patina and Wolfgang are pretty corporate with a seniority system that makes it harder for newbies to work as much as you might like sometimes. The Kitchen is more of a high-end gourmet family. Apply to all 3 and work for whoever's busy on a given day.

You can get a nice high-end waiter job if you've got good experience and knowledge of food and wines. $300 a night is out there but you need the chops and availability.
depends on restaurant........for most its minimum wage 7.50$ hrHow much can I make as a waiter in Los Angeles?
You can make good money as a waiter anywhere in the US - I made probably $40,000 a year just when I was going through college, in fact I made less money when I got my first 'real job'. You have to be careful about the type of place you work though. I hate to say it, but Olive Garden usually pays well - Darden is a great company to work for and Olive Garden is ALWAYS busy - so if you get a crappy table, there will be plenty of opportunities to make up for it!
I knew it, An actor!

There are servers, waiters, expiditers. I would say the waiter WHO IS GOOD, and is at an upscale restaurant can make in the 40's. If you are looking at Chili's or Applebees. it is minimum +tips and most patrons don't tip on service.

Look into working for a white tablecloth place, if you have no experience than take what you can get and work up to what your budget requires.

Valet can make big bucks as most of them are at trendy spots but it is a tough job and requires a lot of dealing with crap from other valets. Caterers, unless you are the caterer then you are a by the job server. This of course can mix in with your waiter job and you have two jobs.

Get some experience before you go this will help in the job search.
