We are going to view a venue friday. What should I inquire about? This is a site that does their own catering too.
Thanks! What do I ask the ceremony and reception site, and caterer?
Questions you should ask
Ask these important questions 鈥?and don鈥檛 worry about appearing picky:
Is there a minimum fee? Some venues will charge for all the facilities they offer, even if you don鈥檛 want to use them.
What鈥檚 included? Ask for a clear cost breakdown. Some package deals include tables and chairs, table linen, waiters, bar staff, even a night in the honeymoon suite. Others don鈥檛 even include cutlery 鈥?you鈥檒l fork out for every fork. Do your sums as extra fees quickly add up.
Is there a corkage fee? Many venues charge a fee per bottle if you bring your own drinks. If so, negotiate for a lower rate (it doesn鈥檛 hurt to try).
Are there service charges or booking or admin fees?
Is insurance included?
What鈥檚 the cancellation policy? Occasionally a wedding is postponed due to illness or emergency, or even cancelled altogether. Consider taking out wedding insurance just in case.
When is the total due? Often your full bill is payable a few weeks before the wedding (there may be later adjustments due to actual bar bills on the day, etc.) And there may be an extra deposit required against potential damage, refundable after the wedding.
Also check out WeddingWire.com and use their customizable stuff. It's pretty cool. What do I ask the ceremony and reception site, and caterer?
Id have the food in mind and ask for a sample of everything they plan to serve. Ask about the earliest you can get in and the latest you can leave. The location of the bathrooms. Are the doing decorations too? Ask for a sample table set up to be displayed. Including the kind of china and silverware. Are they providing the wine for the toast? Ask for a sample. Also any specifics included in your conversation make sure its wrote down and in the contract you sign. Remember if its not there, they can easily dispute it later if you have a problem. Are the serving- what will the servers be wearing? Color theme- make sure they understand you want pale pink instead of hot pink. Be specific and make sure everything is in writing. DO NOT take their word on anything...if you need time to read any contract..sit there and do it, don't let them rush you. Oh and take a camera to capture all of this. If i think of more Ill come back.
